For general volunteer opportunities, there are no specific requirements. Anyone interested in contributing to event operations in a non-teaching capacity is welcome.
However, if you are interested in leading teaching-based activities such as public speaking camps or workshops posed on speech and debate, you must meet one of the following qualifications:
Experience Requirement:
At least one full year of active participation in both speech and debate
If you only have experience in one area (either speech or debate), you may:
Lead workshops exclusively in that subject area, or
For multi-focus events such as camps, collaborate with another instructor who has experience in the complementary area to ensure a balanced program.
Training Requirement:
Completion of a Voice Box training course and successful passage of the associated certification exam, which ensures you are fully equipped to lead instructional events and deliver accurate/effective content.

We highly encourage high school students to get involved! Volunteering with us provides:
Official Volunteer Hours that can count toward school or community service requirements.
NSDA Points logged directly on the National Speech & Debate Association website, helping you track your growth and recognition within the national circuit.

Application Process
Complete the Volunteer Application Form: Provide your basic information, preferred role(s), and any relevant experience.

Select Your Interest Area: Choose between Event Support (non-teaching) or Teaching Roles (camps, workshops).
Review of Application: Our team will assess your eligibility and determine your placement.
Training & Certification (if required): If applying for teaching roles, complete Voice Box training and certification process.
Training: Voice Box
Placement & Scheduling: Get matched with an event or program based on your availability and expertise (within three weeks of application review)
Start Volunteering: Join us at events, gain valuable experience, and make a meaningful impact. Sign-ups will be posted in team slack (code given via email after application).
